Preet, Sarat conferred with Saroj Mahasuara Memorial Award

Promising Odisha pace bowler Preet Kanwar Singh Chohan and BCCI Level-1 umpire Sarat Chandra Sahoo were conferred with the Saroj Mahasurara Memorial Award for the year 2017 in a special function held here at Town Club ground today.

The awards were handed over by State Culture & Tourism Minsiter Ashok Chandra Panda, Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena, former India swing bowler Debasis Mohanty and eminent cricket coach Kishore Chandra Mania in the presence of Bhubaneswar Athletic Association joint-secretary Naba Ranjan Patnaik, local Corporator Biranchi Narayan Mahasupakar and Saroj Mahasuara Memorial Committee convenor Manoj Mohapatra.

A promising pace bolwer, Preet has been performing well after making his Odisha U-19 debut in the season 2015-16. He ended the 2016-17 season as one of the top three junior pace bowlers of the country, bagging 27 wickets from five matches in Cooch Behar Trophy U-19 Tournament. Son of former Odisha cricketer and selector Gurjit Singh Chohan, Preet received coaching from Australia pace legend Glenn McGrath at MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai this year.
